Larysa Grachova - Jewelry Designer
Larysa Grachova (born in Eastern Ukraine, 1983) is a jewelry maker based in Madrid. Prior to her studies in jewelry she had completed a BA in Art History and Criticism, which was followed by training in Photography and Graphic Design. Later on she worked in an advertising agency before coming to Spain to pursue her artistic career.
Her interests lie in the artistic investigation of shapes, which reflect on the subjects relevant to the artist. The great granddaughter of a blacksmith, she believes that every object has to have its utility and argues that in jewelry it can be found in the message it transmits.
Her art is influenced by subversive religious symbolism, the aesthetics of Soviet propaganda and avant-garde movements.
She has participated in interdisciplinary art projects and group exhibitions of Contemporary Jewelry at Joya Barcelona, Museo del Traje, National Museum of Decorative Arts and The Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, among other galleries in Spain.
